Go Outside on an Adventure: Watch for Wild Animals

Watch for Wild Animals

Peter Rabbit loved to explore the fields and gardens near his home, and now it’s your turn to do the same! Let’s head outside to see what kinds of animals share your area.

Go outside and find a quiet spot where there aren’t too many people. Sit or stand quietly and look around.

  • Observe what you see.
  • Study the animals in the area. What types of animals do you see?
  • Do you see birds, squirrels, or insects moving around?
  • Can you spot any rabbits or signs that they’ve been there, like tracks, nibbled leaves, or burrows?
  • If it’s the time of year when young animals are born, do you notice any babies? How are they behaving? What are they doing?
  • Take out your Nature Journal and record your observations.
  • Sketch one of the animals or animal homes you notice. Label your drawing and include the date, time, and weather.

🕵️‍♀️ Try This:
Visit the same area another day. Do you see the same animals, or have new ones appeared?
