Notes about this course

Important Notes...

This course was created for my children to explore the life of Christ. It was created as a year-long study for high school or middle school students. It is my gift to you to use for your student as well.

This course does not teach doctrine. It explores the verses of the Biblical books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Thought questions are provided to help your student to consider what they have learned in the reading passages.

This course follows a simple harmony of the gospels guide. This is not necessarily the only harmony of the gospels and may be different than one you have followed in the past. It is simply a guide. Feel free to make changes for your student.

This course is in no way to be considered a definitive or exhaustive source of information.

About What Is Included

  • Read - reading assignments
  • Write - copywork
  • Learn - memory work
  • Questions to Ponder - thought questions to teach critical thinking and freewriting
  • Show What You Know - a wrap up of all the student has learned for that week
  • Rabbit Trails - In these sections, we will take a deeper dive into some of the subjects being discussed in our reading. Again, we will not discuss doctrine. These rabbit trails may dive into history, culture, science, or other topics. You are welcome to skip over those topics you do not want to dive deeper into.

About Freewriting

In this course, we use Freewriting to jumpstart the critical thinking process and get words flowing. Our goal with these writing projects is to help your student find their inner voice. Freewriting is an excellent tool you can learn more about in the article below.

The Freewriting Rules That Will Inspire A Reluctant Writer

'How did you get him to write? He never writes for me at home.' This and a few other questions and comments similar to it were directed at me at our last enrichment classes. At first, I demurred because that's what we Southerners do. Then I realized they were serious.

About The Credit

This course is the equivalent of a year of high school Bible course study. We recommend allocating a year of Bible credit.

About The Certificate

Once the student has completed the course, they will receive a certificate. You may print this out for your records.
