Writing Project

It’s Time to Begin!

Now that you've explored possible topics and decided whether you're writing an analytical or argumentative paper, it's time to start working with your ideas and finalize your topic.

✍️ Your Tasks for This Week:

1. Finalize your topic. Look over your notes, your brainstorm, and your “Questions to Ponder.” Now’s the time to make it official. Write down the exact topic you’ll be researching.

2. What interests you about your topic? Write a few sentences or bullet points about why you chose this topic. What do you already know? What are you curious to find out?

3. If you’re writing an argumentative paper: Write down the position you currently plan to take.
🟡 Caution: Be open to adjusting your view as you dig into the research.

4. Start your source list. Look for at least three sources you might use. These can be:

  • Books
  • Articles
  • Credible websites

You don’t need to read them all now—just list them for next week’s lesson.

📌 This is a brain dump. You will write every point or idea you can think of relating to the topic. You will consolidate and build upon these later. This is not a fleshed-out paper, yet. These are just your notes and ideas.
