Ekphrastic Poems

Beatrix Potter was also very well known for her wonderful illustrations. Not all poets are also illustrators. Today we're going to write an ekphrastic poem.

  • An ekphrastic poem is a poet's response that vividly describes, interprets, or reflects upon a visual work of art.
  • Here is an example of this type of poem:

Ekphrastic Poem inspired by Vincent van Gogh's "Starry Night"

Starry Night, oh so bright,

Brushstrokes dance in the night.

Swirling blues and golden gleams,

Moon and stars, enchanting dreams.

  • Use the printable below to create an ekphrastic poem.
