For this book club, we will be using the book Unwind by Neal Shusterman. You can purchase it in digital, paperback, hardcover, and audio formats. It is also available at many local libraries.

This dystopian novel contains disturbing and graphic themes, including forced organ donation (unwinding), violence, death, and ethical questions around abortion and bodily autonomy. Some scenes, particularly the description of an unwinding procedure, are intense and unsettling. There are also moments of child abuse, neglect, and trauma. Profanity is minimal, and sexual content is limited to mild references. While dark in subject matter, the book raises profound questions about morality, identity, and freedom, making it a strong choice for high school readers ready for mature themes and discussion.
