For this book club, we will be using the book, Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai.

You can purchase it in digital, paperback, hardcover, and audio formats. It is also available at many local libraries. This is the only book you will need for this book club.

You will also need a notebook for your notes, copywork, dictation, and journaling.

Note to the Parent:

Told in free verse, this emotionally resonant story captures one girl’s journey from war-torn Vietnam to resettlement in Alabama. Themes include cultural displacement, loss, and adaptation. There are no graphic scenes, though emotional intensity and references to religion and identity struggles may benefit from guided conversation.

I recommend this course for upper elementary age children and older. As with any children's resource, please refer to trusted sources for reviews before reading. For your reference, we have linked Plugged In's review.
