For this book club, we will be using the book The Girl Who Drank The Moon by Kelly Barnhill. You can purchase it in digital, paperback, hardcover, and audio formats. It is also available at many local libraries. This is the only book you will need for this book club.
You will also need a notebook for your notes, copywork, dictation, and journaling.
Parent Note:
This fantasy novel includes themes of death, grief, and abandonment (babies are left in the woods and families mourn their loss). Some characters experience mental illness, depression, and trauma. There are scenes of magical peril and violence, though not graphic. The overall tone is hopeful, with strong messages of love, resilience, and the importance of truth. Suitable for upper elementary and middle school readers, though sensitive students may need support with the darker themes.
