The children leave their home in London to live with their uncle in the countryside.

During World War II, many children in Great Britain were evacuated to the countryside to keep them safe from the dangers of bombings and air raids that were happening in the cities. The war was a very scary time, and the government wanted to protect kids from getting hurt. So, they sent children to live with families in the safer countryside, where there were fewer chances of bombs falling. It was a way to make sure the children could continue going to school and have a better chance at a safer and happier life while the war was going on.
