• Pay attention to any words or phrases that you don't understand and write them in your journal. Look up the meanings of these words.

Create a characterization chart

• As you are reading, choose a direct quote for at least 5 of the characters.
• What does that quote tell you about the character?
• Is this a direct or indirect characterization?
• Be prepared to turn this in to your parent at the end of the week. Your chart should include the quote, what it means, and whether it is direct or indirect.
