Rabbit Trail: Toadstools

The fairy uses a toadstool as a nice place to sit and relax.

A toadstool is a kind of mushroom! You might see them growing on the ground or on old tree trunks, especially after it rains.

Some toadstools are safe for animals to nibble, but many can be poisonous to people, so we never touch or eat wild mushrooms unless a grown-up says it’s okay.

They come in lots of colors and shapes. Some have spots, tall stems, or round tops. People often picture a red toadstool with white spots, like the ones in fairy stories where gnomes or fairies might sit underneath!
