Resources Needed for the Magic Dust Projects:

You will need the following supplies for projects listed throughout the course. You do not have to complete each project. Choose those you think would be interesting or fun.

Project 1, Sketch Godfather Drosselmayer

• Colored Pencils, Markers, or another drawing instrument
• Plain paper, cardstock, or sketch journal

Project 2,  [Dumas] Cinnamon Bark Ornaments

• 2 cups cinnamon
• 2 cups applesauce
• Straw
• Ribbon
• Parchment paper
• Roller

Project 2, [Hoffman] Gingerbread Ornaments

• 2 1/3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp ground ginger
• 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/4 tsp ground cloves
• 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
• 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (12 Tbsp)
• 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1/2 cup molasses
• 1 large egg, room temperature
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 2 to 3 Tbsp milk
• 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
• Sprinkles, to decorate
• Mixing bowls
• Measuring cups and spoons

Project 3, Sketch the Nutcracker

• Colored Pencils, Markers, or another drawing instrument
• Plain paper, cardstock, or sketch journal

Project 4, Sketch the Nephew

For this project, you will need:

• Colored Pencils, Markers, or another drawing instrument
• Plain paper, cardstock, or sketch journal

Project 5, Nut Cracking

• A simple nutcracker or another safe tool approved by an adult (avoid anything sharp)
• A small selection of nuts in the shell (walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans, etc.)
• Small bowls or plates
• Paper towels or napkins
• A trash bowl for shells

Project 6, Draw Your Own Nutcracker

Hoffman

• Optional: metallic gel pens for gold or silver details

Dumas
