No teen likes the idea of writing a research paper. It's confusing, overwhelming, and simply stressful.

But, it doesn't have to be that way.

In this course, students will walk through the process of researching and writing a paper from a topic they choose in simple weekly steps.

We will start by discussing what makes a good topic. We will then move on how to evaluate reliable sources. Students will learn outlining and how to avoid plagiarism. Then they will learn how to organize their information and cite their sources using MLA format. Finally, students will write their papers and submit them for constructive feedback.

Students will complete a paper by the end of this 4 week class, but more importantly they will walk away with the skills and experience they need to successfully write any research paper.

Week 1: Choosing a Type and Topic
Week 2: Finding Sources and Avoiding Plagiarism
Week 3: Outlining
Week 4: Editing, Revising and Submitting the Final Paper
